One of my favorite things to do in the summer is frequenting "U-Pick" farms with my husband, Ben. Whether it's strawberries, blueberries, apples, or pears, we always try to pencil picking in for "us" time throughout the year. My favorite time to pick though is peaches. There's nothing like the vibrant smell of this ripe fruit. The sweet aroma fills the orchards when the dog days of summer finally roll in. The soft and juicy treat is best fresh, amazing when local, and thankfully in full force this year after a lost crop due to a harsh 2016 winter.
New England, and especially New Hampshire, has been itching for a great Peach Jam since last year's loss, and we're so excited to be introducing this amazing (and simple) flavor to our line. Peaches, lemon juice, sugar, pectin- the way jam should be. One spoonful and you're transported to the tree-lined fields, searching the branches for that perfect fruit.
I personally peel each peach, separate fruit from the pit, puree the batch, and can it at the peak of perfection. Because of that, this is a seasonal preserve and will be made in bulk during July, August, and through the beginning of September if we're lucky. Peach Jam will be available in the online stores, at markets, and possible at our retail locations and craft fairs as supplies allow.
